Pros

Great benefits, ample vacation time and mental health days.

Cons

Quality is often forsaken to save money, both with product and with lay offs.Layoffs happen quite often.

Pros

Leadership has good intentions. Cengage has a good reputation in the industry, so a couple of years here will look good on a resume.

Cons

As a whole, school libraries just aren't supported financially in many states so the demand for what Gale offers is quite low to non-existent in some areas of the country. But those areas still have the same high quotas as anywhere else. Gale products are nice-to-have, not must-haves. In many instances the sales team is tasked with selling things that no one in education is asking for. Even after a sale, usage among customers is very, very low and so you just hope that they don't look at their stats. The opportunity for advancement is almost non-existent especially in the sales team. I once interviewed for a different position outside of sales and the hiring team expressed suspicion that I might favor the sales department over other teams. It's a big red flag if your colleagues are suspicious of sales, the ones who bring in the money. This company is a great entry-level opportunity in the EdTech field, but the pay is nearly a decade behind what other companies are paying.

Pros

Some work from home opportunities available. Lots of employee resource groups to join. Colleagues are intelligent and kind.

Cons

Constant rumors of (and actual) layoffs are stressful. Systems are outdated. Upper management is very lacking in diversity.
