Pros

The reorganization and Chapter 11 breathed new life in our organization. It is not without its growing pains, and things don't necessarily look the same as they did when we were multiple autonomous businesses under one umbrella, but I don't look the same as I did either. This is a great place to work if you embrace change and challenge. There is opportunity to stretch your limits and contribute if you want. Executive leadership is much more open and transparent than in years prior and sometimes honesty hurts, but its refreshing and makes me more confident in the future.

Cons

As a result of our transition, there are many new processes being implemented and lots of new buzzwords and acronyms. Change is happening quickly. If you can't learn on the fly and adapt easily to change, this is not the place for you.

Pros

Interesting work. Supportive managers and coworkers. No office politics. Great work-life balance with work from home 2 days per week. Free espresso bar every Monday. Free Keurig coffee everyday. Excellent health benefits. Commuter benefits. Beautiful brand new SF office with view of the bay from work station!

Cons

Sometimes have to jump unexpectedly from one project to another. Sometimes have mandatory corporate meetings or events with very little prior notice. Open seating means that at times there is a lot of noise and it can be difficult to concentrate. Expensive and long commute, but company subsidizes half of the cost. Bay area is an expensive place to live.

Pros

We are in an exciting time in our industry and Cengage is an exciting place to be. We are working to meet the changing needs of students, which means the way things have always been done also needs to change. Surrounded by the brightest in the field, Cengage allows for an opportunity to drive change and lead the transition - learning with and from each other along the way.

Cons

Change can be tough, but it is also exciting if you are willing to embrace it. There is a lot of change underway and every day is new day here.
