Pros

Benefits are average. Gives you opportunity to learn new things. It has potential with the right leader.

Cons

A lot of bureaucracy. It has been downhill since Lightyear sold it to RCS. Current management, especially HR, is so out of touch with what employees go through. Everyone is overworked.

I have been here at Cetera about 4.5 years and I have truly enjoyed the experiences to date. We are one of the top firms in the independent advisor industry, we are intensely focused on customer service and we are actually trying to change the game, matching a heavy investment on technology and the overall experience for our customers. It is really exciting to be here and in an industry that is heavily regulated we are actually doing cool stuff.

Cons

Though Cetera supports flexibility and is family friendly, growth expectations do require a level of hard work that isn't for everyone...

There's a real kindness to the culture here. Teams are highly supportive of each other and executives are very approachable. I've worked in a lot of financial services organizations and I can say that's a rare quality. One thing that's very important, especially in an industry that's been rocked with scandal, is the emphasis on doing things the right way for the investor, our advisors and our team mates. Our new CEO has brought a lot of energy and focus on innovation and it feels like we're on the right path.

Cons

There's been a lot of change over the last few years. We're still in the midst of more transformation and that's put a stress on the culture. The good news is that the change now is about creating new products and tools for our advisors - all positive things - but it is still change.
