Pros

Opportunities to work on large, complex international development projects. Exposure to USAID and donor-funded programs. Some smart, committed colleagues (at least at lower and mid-levels).

Cons

Chemonics is a company where your success is largely determined by who you know, not by your performance or dedication. If you have the right connections, you’ll be protected and promoted; if you don't, your hard work often goes unnoticed. Leadership prioritizes maintaining appearances and protecting their inner circles over supporting staff. Despite their public messaging about valuing employees and promoting a positive mission, internally the focus is overwhelmingly on the bottom line. Staff well-being, growth, and morale often take a backseat to client optics and financial targets. Layoffs and reorgs feel arbitrary and can disproportionately affect those without strong internal alliances, regardless of their contributions. If you're looking for a place where merit, transparency, and employee care drive decisions, you may want to keep looking. However, if you're well-networked or skilled at navigating office politics, you might find it easier to build a stable career here.

Pros

- Nice benefits: medical insurance, 13th salary, provision of all work equipment, including free mobile communications - Very solid experience for future work in the field of international development and in operational positions - clear and concise management system and internal functionality of all personnel - professional approach to all aspects of work

Cons

- salaries are not that high and hard to negotiate, standard practice of raising it upon hiring up to 10% max, comparing to your previous place of work
