Great in the beginning but went downhill fast
Pros
If you drink the kool-aid, you get treated with preferential treatment. Weekly pay but that's pretty much it.
Cons
Your managers beat around the bush on expectations and keep you in the dark on new policy changes because they themselves dont pay attention in their meetings. You're looked down on if youre comfortable in your position and tell you if you dont like the changes to become a manager which is complicated in itself because the people above them only choose people theyre friends with. They removed the employee kudo store and everything else that made it fun and engaging. If you win customer service agent of the month, they send you a cheap plaque that does nothing but collect dust. If youre stuck in a position that is obviously causing you distress, youre SOL. They try their best to make your time there as stressful as possible so you quit to save themselves of having to give you unemployment. Your metrics could be top notch, but your managers will still look for minor issues like not closing a ghost chat in 4 minutes as youre dealing with two other chats with customers that have complex issues. Not to mention, you could be typing a full personalized message to a customer, and when another chat pops in, it switches your window to the new chat which deletes the whole paragraph you had typed to the person you were helping. They tell you its a low priority tech issue yet you still get marked off for not responding to the customer within 2 minutes. They make this job way harder than it needs to be with constant micromanaging and unnecessary pressure. If they decide they dont like you anymore, they remove you from splunk projects that you are more than qualified to do. They allow new hires to take the easier positions while people that have worked here for 6+ years are forced to not only fix their mistakes but also get yelled and demeaned by the customers. Its worth staying there for the first few years if youre looking for a job but definitely not a place to stay at long term. Everyone on the chat department is riddled with anxiety and are forced to take psychiatric medications and FMLA just to make it through the month. Chewy used to be a great place to work but it has become completely depressing. If you still work there, there are way better jobs that treat you with dignity and actually pay you much better. Wishing my excoworkers the best, you guys truly deserve better than how Chewy is treating you.
