      General manager you are in control of almost every aspect of the hotel

      Pros

      You learn a lot about how to run a business. From marketing, hiring, firing, setting the standards at the hotel for staff to achieve and maintain. Employees and guest can be wonderful meet lot of new people.

      Cons

      Long hours usually in limited service hotels you have very little levels of management so you are on call 7 days a week 24 hours a day the hotel never closes

      Have worked with some amazing managers/owners. but as every property is independent it could vary wildly

      Pros

      You get to meet a lot of interesting people from all walks of life. It's a very laid back environment. I loved the manager.

      Cons

      The pay was minimum wage because I had no previous experience as a front desk clerk or night auditor. The change your schedule at a moments notice.
