Great Hospital, Bad City

Pros

Great hospital, leading research and great staff.

Cons

City was bad, some dangerous areas and not a place to be if you don't have a car (I was an international worker). There was a class divide between medical professionals and hospitality staff that I didn't like.

Pros

Everyone is nice, People really are passionate about their job. Great cause , great for resume. Technology and leader in health care driven. Most divisions are very fair and organized.

Cons

as in all major businesses different departments have the wrong people in management and contacting HR has a lot of red tape to make things happen. Some divisions have great people everywhere

Pros

You feel like you are making a diffrence in the lives of children no matter what your actual job title is. It is a pretty stable organization to work for and you have to really screw up bad to get fired.

Cons

You have to really screw up to get fired. This means there are many people who have been promoted to the highest level of incompetence. There are no oppportunities for growth and promotion. Beyond that any promotions you do receive are generally not compensated well. Whatever salary you start at is generally the salary you are oging to end up with when you retire. I am currently looking as I am about 50% under payed. This gets even more frustrating as I am supporting a lot of other technology departments and induviduals who are compensated much better than I am. Annual raises are beyond pitiful as they generally barely keep up with inflation. What this boils down to is that if you want to move up prepare to move to a different organization.
