Pros

Cintas provides products and services that are constantly in demand, and essential to most businesses. It’s a relatively easy sale.

Cons

I work in recruiting for the entry level Outside Sales reps, Sales Trainees, Interns, Key Account Managers, and more. I recruit for all types of sales roles. What I have learned compared to the other companies I have worked with in the past is really shocking. There seems to be either no required training on employment and hiring laws, or the management staff just completely disregards any information they do receive, because I have had managers tell me directly “we’ll pass on this candidate, they are too old and outside our candidate profile”. They do not want to hire someone who has more than a few years of experience. I have had really quality candidates get dismissed because they have 10-15 years of experience. Beside the age discrimination, Cintas offers a $40-43k base which is laughably low in certain areas of the nation. Sure there are commissions, but your base needs to be able to cover your cost of living and for the majority of independent people looking for work this is a minimum of $10,000 below requirement. Cintas also insists on a long, ineffective recruiting process, for no good reason. There are 7 interview steps, including the application itself, also including a full day field ride along which most people currently employed have a hard time scheduling. They make candidates jump through these hoops, for what? To be fired after 6-12 months when they aren’t a president club rep? And why do you think candidates should jump through these hoops, when other sales companies are paying more in a base, more commission, car packages, company credit cards, better health benefits, and more. What makes you so special that you deem 7 interview steps necessary?
