Pros

If you become part of their little seniority circle, you won't have a problem.

Cons

If you aren't part of their little circle they put all of the annoying odd jobs on to you and your personal life doesn't stay private, even all of the older employees including the then manager gossip heavily, in that town nothing stays private doesn't matter if you live there or not; and it can definitely affect how you're treated at that place. Personal life should not be brought to a work place like that. They'll talk about your private life without thinking about it but won't let you know if you're doing something the wrong way or let you know that a task was included in the task you know you're supposed to do because they don't train you properly. The entire time I was there I was finding out that there was more to what I was doing but not because anyone told me. And then they'll complain and gossip about it amongst themselves and then you have no idea why coworkers are cold shouldering you for the next week or longer.

Pros

The people I worked with were amazing, and the regular customers are a joy to help every day. The job becomes easy once the proper training is given and followed through with.

Cons

It took well over a month for me to be fully trained in my position. The manager took a hands-off approach to my training until it became apparent that I was completely unprepared on my first shift running the store by myself. This became a regular occurrence. Action was taken by management only when it was clear that something HAD to be done. I expected to have training that would prepare me for the position in time to do things on my own, not to have training that became disaster relief. Things were only taught to me when things went completely sideways. This was management's mode of operation in all aspects of the store. Problem employees were brought to management's attention over and over, but action was taken only when it became absolutely necessary, when their hand was forced. The employee in question verbally abused a customer and that prompted a response, despite several warnings being given by all the assistants and other employees over and over again. I've heard great things about other managers from other stores, but this one leaves a lot to be desired. Approach with caution.
