worst planning and work ethics worst project execution need to be 24/7 support I've been supporting all nights (atleast till 1 pm) and many weekends but no appreciation bottom and middle managers are highly corrupted after several complaints to HR and ethics there is no progress too many outside contractors too many offshore - india activities with very less quality of service totally it is in disaster Managers are focussed only on their performance rather company's I see the cisco is following nortal, motorola,3com in near future this company might bankrupt or loose it charm (today they might be cash rich but the company is going into a bad direction) partnering with corrupted companies (ex. satyam, wipro, infosys, and many more)

Cisco a great name for your Resume, a horrible place to work.

Pros

The best reason to work at Cisco is purely to get Cisco on your resume. The company still garners respect from the name recognition. It is also a great place to learn how big business works, with lots of management that does very little and if you are the little guy you will get to see what it is like to get dumped on all the time, which will let you develop techniques to deal with stress and overwork. Any job at Cisco will teach you office politics and give you insight into how playing politics can help you get ahead in a big company. These skill are invaluable if you are planning on working at large companies for most of your career.

Cons

You will not be compensated very well, you will not receive very good benefits, you will be forced to dealing with lots of change without any input into the decisions or how they will be implemented. You are forced to deal with LOTS of management, including VPs that don't even have anyone that report to them. Generally you will be at the mercy of the upper management and whatever benefits you have now will be slowly taken away, without you getting a say into how, why or when they will go away.

Pros

Cisco has a very big market cap and plenty of cash on hand. They should be able to weather economic downturns very well. Cisco provides free drinks, enables telecommuting and is very flexible on employee scheduling.

Cons

They are removing the free drinks and paid home ISP. Cisco has lost its great culture that it had in the late 1990's, where all management and employees would do what was right for the customer, eschewing ulterior motives. Their upper management is now so diluted with recent newcomers that old company bad behavior has crept in and trickled down. Directors and VPs are not very trusted by the individual contributors and first line managers.
