Pros

Flexibility is probably the key benefit to working at Cisco. We have the ability (and also the responsibility) to manage our work/life in whatever why we feel is appropriate. We are measured on results, and not (always) on being politically visable.

Cons

We are not as good at giving feedback as we would like to believe. Cisco is very open in giving positive feedback, and if something goes very wrong, we are very open addressing it and improving on it. However when things run 'ok' the organisation never really takes time to feedback and improve on it.

Pros

Open communication style Management is easy to approach and competent Company is extremely well run Cutting edge technology (eg Telepresence) Possibilities to work from home and have a flexible agenda People are in general nice and easy to work with

Cons

Extremely poor benefits package (company provides the bare minimum) Salaries are seldom adjusted for inflation so employees in the company for a a long timeare paid substantially below market Stock options used as an excuse to not adjust salaries for the majority of the employees while it's been a number of years they only benefit to senior executives Aggressive sales culture leading to a very pressurized work environment Little respect for work / life balance: on paper, the company says it's important but in reality you are expected to be on duty 24/7 and they provide you the technology to make sure you are

Pros

You are working with talented and driven peers in a highly collaborative environment. The management team is very supportive of employee training and development, allowing employees to learn and grow with the company. Cisco has a culture of employee empowerment, giving employees the freedom to make important decisions.

Cons

Long hours and job strain can take toll on personal life. Need to find better work-life balance for employees. Though the company expects its employees to perform in the industry's top 10% but its compensation plans for the systems engineers is only above average.
