Pros

The level of competency of your peers are very high. So there's great opportunity of learning from them. And there's usually an open line of communication, so people share their knowledge openly.

Cons

The culture of the company is to do overtime work. Bosses go home very late (11pm or later) and even work at home and even weekends. Sometimes there's an expectation for the regular employees to do the same. This breeds an attitude of dissatisfaction among the regular employees because mostly of burnout and unbalanced work-life. Since I joined the team 2 years ago more than 10 (experienced and competent) people already left because of the above reason, and our managers doesnt seem ( or dont bother) to understand whats the source of the 'mortality rate' . They just hire new people.

Pros

Good brand name, better compensation then most of the local banks, friendly worker environment, steady workplace if you like, in-house trainings. Also it is easier to find jobs in market after getting labeled as a "previous employee of Citibank". Although the group got smaller, currently it is reorganizing itself, so the change yields to new opportunities to show yourself and go further. If you are interested in a career in banking & finance, Citigroup provides a solid name and opportunities for the ones who wants further in area...

Cons

less opportunity to move further, bigger than it should be, senior managements failures in decisions, unnecessary long bureaucracy, rivalry for power between departments (which encumbers the speed of process), unnecessary outsourcing, not enough planning

Pros

Camaradie of the people in the company. Though everyone was self-employed, people rallied round to help one another to progress the ranks. Everyone, at some point would have experienced whatever it is you are going through and therefore can share some of their personal stories of encouragement. The culture was one of learn by doing, which for me is the best method of learning. One is able to demonstrate practically the do's and dont's of running your own business. With a history of 30 years tried and tested model in the USA, there is a wealth of experience to be tapped into.

Cons

Due to the self-employed nature of working at Citisolutions, there is no real accountability. Each person/business is accountable to itself. The processes and structures for control are lacking or not up to what you would expect from a structured environment. Due to the fact that the business model accommodates people from all works of life, you are sometimes working with people who are very different in terms of educational background and may sometimes find it difficult to engage in what I would call 'intelligent conversation'. The operations division was not very competent due to a lack of consistent staff or better still revolving staff and postal mail concerning compensations went missing regularly
