Pros

The engineers are intelligent people

Cons

Sr Leadership is versed in using the "soft voice" to make you think they care, but as a Director, I could hear behind the scenes and the people are the LAST thing they care about. Regularly talking badly about engineers, discussing them as dispensable, and the word "useless" comes up. Politics are always center stage with MDs creating programs to undercut their peers and take over more territory. Instead of focusing on what's best for the company employees are told to focus on getting their MD their next bonus, MDs generally dont believe in their actual programs succeeding and look to get just far enough to collect on a bonus and then have a scape goat lined up for when the program fails. Also advice to engineers would be not to speak up if you dont agree 100% with a decision. If you aren't perceived as "kissing the ring", you are immediately put on "the list" and will get either a PIP or laid off in the inevitable next round of layoff, which are ALWAYS being planned. Directors often cannot be trusted either, as the ones who survive are usually the "yes men/women" whose only concerns are staying off the list themselves or getting promoted at other's expense. It is one of the most toxic cultures I have ever witnessed at the workplace.

Pros

-Citi has a lot of people who make this place special -The large array of products and segments allow Citi to help many people inside and out with their financial needs

Cons

-There are some very manual parts of the business that could be automated -Compliance does not usually grant any exceptions even if it means clients are caught in the middle of red tape

Pros

There really are none. There is no opportunity here (despite the lies of the MD) and you will ust regret going anywhere this team.

Cons

Where to start. Cit was the most toxic work environment I have ever been in, mainly driven by the leadership of the bank. They are all extremely immature and constantly playing the politics game, taking credit for the work of juniors while shifting blame down for their own failures. The MD of PPNR modeling is particularly bad there and continues to push delusional and useless ideas about projects because "he has never seen a model he thinks is finished." Problem is, he never approves any models, so nothing gets done and you will end up doing useless analysis with him getting more and amore abusive if you don't do what he says. Furthermore, he constantly pushes ideas that cannot be done given the data and resources available. He frankly has no idea what he is doing and you will end up just getting so fed up with it that you leave after a few years. Don't fall for the nonsense in the interview. They do not promote, there are no internal opportunities for anything, and he is not "building best in class models." If you join that team, you will be part of a team that likely gets another MRIA for the bank for not building any models. All because they followed the bad ideas and delusions of an MD who has never built a model.
