Pros

Clark provides each employee with the opportunity to become a leader. From day one working for Clark, I have been afforded as much responsibility as I wish in order to learn and grow my career as quickly as possible. At the same time, Clark has seemingly unlimited resources throughout the company, which provides full support for young employees growing into management roles. In addition, there are incredible projects that this company continues to be awarded. In my short 3.5 years in the company, I have had the opportunity to be a part of a standard core and shell office building project, an exquisite museum, and a world class presidential memorial. The opportunities with this company are endless. Lastly, the people that work for Clark are amazing. There is a wide variety of young but talented folks, all the way through 30+ year tenured employees. Every single person is impressive and welcoming.

Cons

I don't have any cons to report, honestly.

Pros

Absolutely great learning experience. You will be thrown in the trenches fast and will be given an immense amount of responsibility. Clark hires young so you will be around a lot of young employees and they try to keep the company as social as possible.

Cons

Hours are long and the pay is below average. Due to how large this company is it can be very easy to get forgotten. Communication between management and the company itself is non-existent.

Pros

You get to work on interesting projects and you get a lot of exposure to different aspects of construction. There are a lot of opportunities and they are willing to train and groom if you're assertive and show you can handle more responsibility. The project teams have close relationships and are family oriented. The people are great and the organizational culture outside of work is very welcoming and active. There are a bunch of different intramural sports teams and volunteering events for those interested in extracurricular activities. Its a good way to make friends and make a big company small. The benefits are pretty good and you don't get any grief for taking time off.

Cons

During crunch time, the hours can get long and it's easy to get burnt out. It's not uncommon to work consecutive weekends. Some jobs are understaffed which makes it hard to have a good work-life balance. They're working on the evaluation process but constructive feedback isn't consistent. You don't get very much feedback on things you do well or on areas where you need improvement. Similarly, it's not clear what actions will lead to a promotion or conversely, what actions are keeping you from a promotion.

Clark Construction Group Response

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. There are various times during a project’s duration when the teams are putting in extra hours. Thank you for your hard work and dedication! We are actively encouraging project managers to have structured dialogue with their project teams on work schedules and required flexibility, and to better communicate expectations of both our managers and our employees. Please do not hesitate to contact your HR business partner to provide further feedback or ways that we could help implement better work-life balance and the performance feedback process. - Brian Flegel, SVP, Talent
