Pros

This is a great company to work at, if you want to coast along in the G&A department. They do not demand you go above and beyond your day to day job. There is also a lot of opportunity to move around in the various G&A departments.

Cons

I did not feel like Clark did a great job of supporting my career growth. I was not supported in getting my required education courses. They also did not reward employees who went above and beyond their daily job. Compensation started at market value, but Clark did not try to keep it at market value. The raises for G&A employees were very minimal.

Pros

Clark has its hand in many facets of construction management including both new construction and renovation of federal, retail, hotel, educational, residential, museums, public transit and rail work. Exposure to all of this work within one company has been a tremendous learning experience and benefits your career greatly.

Cons

The work culture at Clark is unbearable. 60-80 hour work weeks are "normal" and working less is almost frowned upon by all middle management and exec level. No compensation is ever given for the extra hours worked, or going above and beyond time and time again. Expectations are always set above anyone's ability to comfortably achieve in a reasonable time frame. Even when you achieve great things, "thank you" or "great job" is a rarity to hear. In summary, a LOT of demand, for little verbal or monetary appreciation.

Pros

Very competent contractor. I learned the way a building should be built. Great systems and process and everything dove tails together. Lots of opportunity. Great training.

Cons

Long hours. Very political. Lots procedures and processes to learn. Projects can be far from home but that is with any construction company. If your right out of school I highly recommend Clark to see how its done. Stay there as long as you can stand it and then move on.
