Pros

Learn a great deal about the waste disposal industry and get the opportunity to do jobs most would never dream of.

Cons

Long hours, often without notice of duty changes or ability to plan schedules, are mainstream with this company. In addition, the management team has more in interest in their personal gain than in managing employees into better working habits.

Pros

The people are great, and the culture is not stuffy due to the blue collar nature of the work.

Cons

Many of the people making decisions have been at Clean Harbors for many years and fail to either see, or accept that you can't run a company with 14k employees the same way as when it was 3k employees. People making decisions in very senior positions are not qualified to run their departments, and thus create an enormous amount of inefficiencies and inhibits one's ability to excel.

Pros

Very recognized brand name in industry, pays well

Cons

Sale professionals are treated less than, constantly babysat by managers . They with a leash around your neck, have archaic sales practices (cold call all day...hope someone sees you) They have no real sales process and aren't interested in learning form experienced sale professionals from outside the industry. They mainly hire drivers for the sales department who have no true sales experience. Outside sales professionals are treated with disdain because they didn't come off a truck. No work life balance, Sales is expected to report at 7:00 am every day (because the driver do and it wouldn't be fair !!??) your also expected to report to the branch at the end of your day to be "processed", which mean grilled about your activity. If you leave at 5:00pm or before for any reason, you are a bad employee. They seem to value sales employees that work 80 hours a week, but have nothing to show for it,as opposed to the person who works 50 hours and has top sales. They don't believe in working smart, only believe in making it hard. They change your commission pay process quarterly, always at your disadvantage & then get mad when you figure out how to still make money. You have a plethora of supervisors to report to and they are all competitive with each other, so you are expected to take sides and are pulled in opposite directions. Too many chiefs not enough Indians. They are insane about their CRM. If you CAN do it CRM they think you should, so one sales call takes 15 minutes to enter. In the end, if you don't butt kiss the right guy, you're expendable, no matter your performance.
