Pros

My first few days felt great. Everyone was very friendly, came from a wide variety of backgrounds. Field managers were helpful and supportive. And then...

Cons

I was only allowed to work two days out in the field after 1.5 days training. When I failed to make quota on either of those days, one of which was in a neighborhood where my trainer also failed to make quota, I was unceremoniously given the axe. No warning, no second chances. Also, I was told when I set up the interview that I would make $400 a week. They didn't tell me it was based on commission and quotas until I had started and left my other job.

Pros

Got to meet different kinds of people from town to town Saw a lot of my state that I wouldn't normally see Learned better how to deal with the public in a professional way Met lots of nice dogs and cats Independent work, was able to self supervise and set my own pace Working for a cause I believe in

Cons

Uncomfortable work environment, very cliquey with the illusion of accepting everyone Found my coworkers to be very fake Little to no job security, high turnover rate Coworkers were very cheerful until challenged and then would suddenly become negative and confused Was sent home because of extreme heat with no prior notice (I lived an hour away) Description of pay at interview was misleading (was told $90/day base with bonuses based on exceeding expectations, was not told that the $90/day was based on making the quota and your pay for the day was half of what you brought in) Weird rules for being in the van ("we try to keep it super positive in the 'burb!") Field managers were intimidating and borderline rude Field managers embarrassed you by forcing you to recite your "rap" in the van en route to destination in front of everyone, and then critiqued you in front of everyone....very inappropriate The whole thing kind of ran like a cult....if you refused to be indoctrinated or did not fall directly in line with what they believed in (anyone who stated outright their agreement with our Republican governor was publicly ostracized) you did not "fit in" Weird hours made it impossible to have a life outside of work (leave for work at 12, get home at 11-12, go right to bed only to wake up and do it again) without one or two days off a week which was frowned upon
