CSU is good place to study for upward mobility, but they won't give raises to their union employees
Pros
There are programs in place to help students who are not well off. I admire the staff and faculty working towards helping students achieve their education.
Cons
In 2020, they furloughed their union staff for a month, and denied SEIU and CWA unionized staff raises for all 3 years of their contracts. In this same year, 2020, the President received a $65,000 bonus. SEIU staff were offered very small bonuses for staying during the 3 years, but these bonuses won't effect our pension in retirement. They won't even buy a nice refrigerator. Our pensions are projected to be lower due to the lack of a pay raise for these 3 years. CSU's management recently wanted to offer a 6 year contract to their faculty in which the amount of raise would be 0.50% the first year and 0.25% the following 5 years. A fact finder found that the university is doing financially very well right now. There is no justification for not giving faculty and union staff reasonable raises. It's demoralizing.
