Cons
Be prepared for unreasonable expectations. Communication from Area Managers is nonexistent at times, not everyone is like this, but the issue is too prevalent any corporation to take themselves seriously. Advice to Area Managers: Your job is to communicate and make other's lives easier, not hell. Nobody is perfect and your not expected to always get everything right, but admit to your mistakes and avoid using others as scapegoats for your lack of communication skills. Prepare to be lied to.... a lot. The lack of empathy and or basic human decency from higher management is scary at times. Every GM I've ever had the pleasure of working with has had to deal with this unprofessional behavior unfortunately. Again, your employees are your heartbeat, they run your stores. Of course, discipline when necessary, but be respectful about. No should leave work wondering if their life is worth living anymore. P.S. the COO may need to seek anger management therapy or take an ethics course at a local community college.
