Read This before applying/dinning at the Hamilton
Pros
Non-smoking and big facility, new construction, nice ambience, and great sushi
Cons
The facility at the Hamilton is not designed as a restaurant. It was originally a border bookstore. There are no bus stations for wait staffs and bussers to drop dirty plates. All wait staffs and bussers have to take all dirty dishes to the kitchen which is almost a block away from the dinning areas. The worse scenarios are the bar call window and seating. All wait staffs are subjected to call your guests’ drinks to a bartender (who is at the call window) with all specific drink codes/order of call, and wait until a bartender response. Severs usually disappear from their sections for a while without intention in order to get the drinks for guests (this policy has never existed in any other restaurants, but clyde’s). Guests however, do not know what’s going on and why their servers are not around. Most of the time appetizers arrive to the table before drinks and dinners still continue to wonder and wait for their drinks. Bar call window takes all servers time and slow all services down. Besides that, the seating are awful. Clyde’s does not care about timing the seating . Hosts are not well trained, lack of menu knowledge and table numbers. Hosts/hostesses always seat 3 or 4 tables at a time for one server. This will tell you clearly that there is no way that wait staff can provide great customer services very to dinners, which leads to most complaints. On top of that, the working area/service stations are small, not enough micros/computers for server to put orders on time. Wait staffs have to wait for their turns. Water supplies (water spout) for guests are not enough. Dish washer area is extremely dirty (never changed water to soak ramikans and utisils). Managers are not active to help servers, and disappear for cigarette break very often, some are not even washed their hands after returning to the floor (so gross). Late night communication with managers and kitchen staff is a nightmare. The late night menus are never updated on time. For all wait staffs, think twice before getting a job at the Hamilton, Clyde’s does not care to add the gratuity into a check for you, regardless how large the party you serve. You are on your own. This is an extremely painful when you work so hard and receive a zero tip on a big check. In addition to that, most late night clients are high and leave you no tip. If you’re volunteering to work for free, then come help serve at the Hamilton.
