Good pay & benefits - bad culture & career prospects

Pros

- Pay is good for the industry - benefits are excellent. Several insurance plans and options. - good people within your teams. Costar hires great talent! - extensive time off, and teams value work life balance. Once you leave for the day you are done.

Cons

- genuinely bad corporate culture. There are great managers at Costar, who I personally learned a lot from. However they live in fear of executives and being fired for disagreeing. Everyone seems perpetually on edge. - little upward mobility in the organization. You can network and find a new position but merit increases are capped, so you will never be paid market rate. - absolutely 0 flexibility for workers when it comes to remote work or hybrid. They want you in office for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. They even go so far as checking employee badge in and out reports. - your individual experience will vary depending on which company under the costar umbrella you work. - management seems to swing from one idea to the next and you are expected to pivot at a moment notice. There is value in consistency for the employee and your customer.

Pros

Good basic pay up to the end 2024.

Cons

No career / no development. You work with 5-10 different systems at the same time. Nothing synchronizes between the systems and there is no compatibility. Company is a mess. Nobody has a overview. Everyone is just "managing" the mess and nobody is questioning anything. You start and You leaving frustrated the work. It is a lot expected but there is no efficiency or quality possible. Quantity over quality! New starters get a job with fancy titles as "specialist" or similar but only for a low wage.
