Pros

I got paid at a good starting rate ($22/hr) Get to learn tools along the way (like Vibe Coding with Codex, Game Dev with Pygame, etc.) At one point, I was getting really good raises

Cons

Can deal with disruptive or misbehaving students Management can be a bit of a mess They stopped giving me raises at a certain threshold Job is only good as a side hustle because pay can be unstable (the students have the ability to cancel or pause classes. Summer is the time when teaching can be pretty slow)

No management, basically want 1 person to do multiple ppl’s work, will force you into 1099 even though it’s a full time position
