Pros

Team work and communication are emphasized from the top down. Diverse projects to work on and sharp people to work with from engineers to designers to admin.

Cons

Some long hours from time to time but that's typical at a consulting firm.

We are really focused on team work all the way through our organization, so I am glad you have experienced the emphasis. This is an effort within the offices and between the offices. I think we have struck a good balance between office autonomy and inter-office cooperation. The lack of internal competition is one of the things that makes Coffman a fun place to work. We are doing our best to enjoy each other instead of trying to out-do each other. We will continue this focus. Thanks for your comments. Dave Ruff - President

Pros

Not a huge, inefficient, bureaucratic corporation. Flexible work hours. Good looking, personable co-workers who are decent to above average at math. Pumpkin spice coffee creamer!

Cons

Hardly any cubes have mountain views and the basement dwellers in the corrosion department have no windows at all. The pumpkin spice coffee creamer is powder.

We do strive to maintain the autonomy of the local office to avoid being a "huge, inefficient, bureaucratic corporation". Decentralization takes more effort on everyone's part as it requires reliance on the value of teamwork and good judgment rather than rules and procedures. The powdered pumpkin spice creamer is a definite compromise and may be an indication that our culture is slipping. On the other hand, it may be an attempt to keep another culture from growing. :) Regarding your advice, project manager training is coming your way soon. So look for the upcoming opportunities. Cons

They say to ask more questions When questions are asked they are not answered clearly and leave you guessing then you are punished for not knowing the answer.

So sorry your experience lacked clarity. Also, your comments about mentorship and inclusion are troubling. This business of ours is an apprenticeship environment. Without mentorship, we can't perpetuate the company, because most of what people need to know is learned on the job. We wouldn't have survived for 44 years if we didn't mentor our team members. I'm definitely not saying that we are perfect at mentorship and can't improve. Same applies to leading with clarity. We are working on these and other items as we continuously improve Coffman. Part of those enhancements are being worked on by our Diversity and Inclusion committee. Sorry that our journey and your journey are no longer combined. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Dave Ruff - CEO
