FIRM LEADERSHIP & CULTURE = HOT MESS

Pros

- Co-workers are nice for the most part. - Most partners are approachable and easy enough to work with. - Jeans days.

Cons

- Many members of management have NO clue what they are doing. This is especially true of those in departments outside of audit & tax. - Unprofessionalism runs rampant. - Cannot tell anything to local HR as they are completely unprofessional and have no clue what confidentiality is; the entire office will know anything you tell them within 72 hours. - Some managers routinely take credit for other’s work. - Dress code is not enforced across the board. Certain people get away with murder in this regard. - Salary is low, low, low. - In general firm is stingy and cheap - Appreciation ... what appreciation? - The firm is trying too hard to be one of the Big Four yet they do not offer the benefits, pay, or resume prestige of the Big Four. - Since the merge employee morale is in the toilet. Lost many of the great Cohn people just have them replaced with sub-par, yet much cheaper, Reznick people. - If you are not seated in certain offices (NY, Bethesda, ATL, LA) you are treated like a nobody. - OFFICE POLITICS and cliques! - Billable hours are overly emphasized - Non-CPAs are treated as third-class citizens. - If you do your job well your thanks will be more and more additional work until you are doing two jobs for the pay of one. - Too many “warm & fuzzy” meetings. When you have two jobs to do you do not have time for “What color is your parachute” and other personality-based BS. - Too many required outings - again who has time? - Not respectful of everyone’s time, just certain people’s time. - Diversity is a joke, especially in upper management. - Much, much more but I don't want to spend all day on this.

Pros

-Few very good and helping employees -good vacation time -jeans days

Cons

- poor communication between upper management regarding workload, job assignments -training is a joke and expectations are too high -your growth depends on how well you lick/get along with partners, managers -Variety of clients to work on is limited and if you express an interest in some other type of industry in your evals you never here back after the eval on the status -alot of pressure on staff to follow up with seniors and managers instead of them just telling associates what to do -was never given a formal technology training, several times ppl would forget to invite you to trainings -no one to direct a new employee who might be willing to grow -no consistency within the firm on how something is suppose to be done. There are always different versions of seniors, then managers and then partners and an associate has to take care of it which is very impractical..they ask ask to inform them about this but you might go insane if you told them about each thing -merging created several changes, uncertainties and alot more work..which was done but not appreciated - I felt that some seniors and managers wanted staff to do all the work -the perks are good but scrutinized alot by partners..for instance they give $15 during busy season if you work more than 60 hours(provided you buy one item and one drink..can't store) but the bills are literally scrutinized for how much each item was and how much u ate..REALLY!! for a big firm like this where employees work 60-70hrs(giving up their social life) during busy season and spend $15 on lunch which is less than their 1 hour rate is scrutinized for a dumb lunch/dinner..there are instances of ppl being fired for these perks too.
