Smart People but a management disaster

* Smart, mission-driven people. * Great 401(k), office perks, and benefits * Fairly laid back

Cons

* Organization is hamstrung by endless meetings and reviews, which makes accomplishing anything very difficult. * Personality driven decision making and need for consensus leads to internally-oriented rather than mission- and data-driven decision making. * Lack of trust and siloed view between departments makes collaboration difficult. * General cynicism and distrust.

Nepotism and Hypocrisy drowning employees

Benefits are great; good intentions by senior leadership team; fun environment (for the most part); handful of managers engaged and willing to listen to concerns of all employees

Cons

Expectations change on a daily basis; pay band structure is flawed (descriptions do not match responsibilities or ability of lower level management); on that note, TOO MANY mid-level managers; not enough transparency nor open communication between departments (again, held hostage by management); "do as I say, not as I do" attitude; inappropriate expectation to work weekends and overtime but preach healthy work-life balances; and, my favorite, complete hypocrisy from management team on any and all expectations. Lastly, the worst thing about this company is the "good old boys" group (mostly senior management) who promote and perpetuate nepotism.
