Pros

The perks and benefits are great, including health benefits, paid volunteer time, travel opportunities, and more. It's a casual environment with the freedom to wear jeans, make a call or step out of the office if needed. If you work for the right supervisor, there are great opportunities for advancement (but work for the wrong supervisor and you'll go nowhere, no matter what).

Cons

Collette has a great vision of transparency and opportunity but unfortunately it hasn't filtered down to many managers and supervisors, who treat employees unfairly and don't allow them to reach their full potential. Salaries don't seem evenly distributed and there's always an excuse for why you're not getting a raise, even when the company profits are high. Employee referral program needs to be looked at. Fams are not guaranteed even though they're a selling point for recruiting.

Pros

Family type atmosphere, good co-workers, benefits and 401 was awesome, open door policy to CFO, Halloween was awesome!

Cons

parking was always an issue, I dont think that will ever be rectified. The company appears to be getting too big - might be easier to relocate the whole company and squish cars in. and the favoritism shown to some and not others. Review on performance not on likability.

Pros

For the size company, they are very philanthropic and always doing something to help the less fortunate and are committed to the local community. In some areas of the company, they have very good leadership from management who try to make it a fun place to be. Your job satisfaction depends greatly on your manager as they have a range of talent from excellent to very bad. They watch every penny they spend wisely (better than any company I've worked for) and have managed very well during numerous downturns in business (i.e. recession, SARS, 9/11, and so on). They have a lot of talented people who are great to work with. Excellent negotiators. When an employee has suffered some tragedy, they are very supportive privately.

Cons

It is a family owned company which touts itself as a family friendly company, however, that is not entirely the case. They have some nice events throughout the year in which you can include family members, but in general work/life balance for salaried positions is poor. They expect long hours from managers and salaried positions, but are not upfront about this in their hiring process, so be sure to ask how many hours you'll be expected to work. There are some in senior management that have gotten there by unscrupulous means and based on performance would not last at another company. They try to avoid people who have second jobs that would take away from their job at Collette. They are trying very hard to have more of an inside sales culture for very good reasons, but it has had a dramatic affect on morale. They will nickel and dime you on your salary and give you the expectation of big bonuses. Sometimes there have been big bonuses, but don't count on it. Don't expect much praise or positive reinforcement. Performance reviews are a bit of a joke. Benefits are OK, but 401k match is pretty low. Don't get too excited about the travel benefits - it's not all it's cracked up to be.
