Pros

They have a good benefits package with an on-site gym. Birthday off. Flexibility. Great volunteer program.

Cons

High turnover. They lost a lot of good people due to the pandemic and with so many new people teams work in silo's again like they did years ago, because of this communication is severely lacking. Lots of favoritism at this company and many people work very long hours and are extremely overworked. Their product is dependent on what is going on in the world.

When I first started at Collette I really loved my Job for the following reasons - Travel Perks (FAM Tours) - Work with Great People (lots of awesome people there still) - Nice vacation time - Felt like a person not a number (beginning years)

Cons

Over the years times changed.. -Got more Corporate feel now -Some management can be horrible -Working over 75 hours a week at times and could not get management for extra help -High turn over (never was like that when I first started) -Promised higher pay never got it -Way under paid for the position I was in and the hours I was putting in

Pros

The ability to work overseas and to work independently are the most beneficial aspects of this position with the company.

Cons

There is a great deal of competition among tour guides for "good" destinations such as Australia, because they yield the most money for tour guides in terms of how much commission is earned on products they encourage travelers to buy. The competition is so fierce that it breeds negativity among tour managers which is very pathetic. Tour managers walk around paranoid that they will be fired based on client feedback surveys. If you do one thing wrong on a tour, like accidentally offend a client fo any small reason, you are reprimanded. You basically live and work worrying about what clients are going to write about you to the company. Management never tells you what you are doing right (except in an empty speech from the CEO once per year), but they'll always find a way to get in touch with you when you've done the slighest thing wrong.
