Pros

The work itself is enticing for a Finance professional. Lots of opportunity to learn and grow. The people at the working level are great, they work hard and care about what they do. I have never worked with such dedicated employees and it’s a wonderful thing to know everyone is trying to hold up their end.

Cons

Unfortunately, the leadership at this Company has went downhill over the last year or so. Unrealistic financial task gets pushed down to the businesses and when those numbers aren’t met, short term cost cutting decisions are made, like no travel and layoffs. This has caused attrition to pick up once again (there was significant attrition during Covid) and the already large workloads become even greater for those remaining. Unrealistic expectations of management to improve processes and forecasting when we can barely meet their tight deadlines and non value-add churn of questions and endless ad-hoc analyses is going to continue to drive away top performers to places with better work-life balance. Add to this the mandate that most people need to return to the office full-time after picking up significant work during Covid and the only reason we get the work done is because we multi-task during zoom meetings and can work at our most productive times at home, the Company and it’s CEO are setting up the working level employees (non-management) for failure. The amount of meetings during Covid tripled from prior to Covid, but most of us handled it well because we were at home and could manage our own time. Forcing us back to the office full-time with meetings all day and heavy workloads will end up causing further burnout and missed deliverables. Management doesn’t seem to understand the cause and effect here. While technology seems to be constantly updated, the core financial systems and VPN connection tends to cause constant interruptions and challenges to meeting deadlines during close and forecast each month. The help desk is anything but helpful in times of need.

Pros

BE Aerospace location management is still ok; their hands are unfortunate tied by the upper management at UTC.

Cons

Ever since Rockwell Collins (Legacy BE Aerospace) was bought by UTC, it has turned out to be a disaster. They took away our free Friday breakfast. They took away some holidays like MLK day (and substituted with forced holidays in end of December). They took off our nice holiday parties. They took away our right to have 2 car tags (what a hassle switching one car tag between 2 vehicles). They also refuse to give us their good benefits such as sick days, etc. Still no comp or flex time. The results of the Pulse review (to voice our dissatisfaction) they provided didn’t yield any fruit. It seems like chimps are running the upper management @ UTC.

Pros

The Aerospace Industry is interesting and one can learn a lot by all the hats one needs to put on throughout each day. A lot of different programs, so you don't have to get bored by one program or specific product year after year.

Cons

Senior/Executive Management works in tune with senior executive management and seldom communicates with anyone lower than a Director. They do not see the smoking screens and lies that are put out by their direct reports. They are poor at giving praise or constructive feedback, but expect a higher standard from others. They protect protect their own groups to protect themselves with anger and vigor instead of truly improving. They work in their own silo, and fight among each other. Everyone I worked with felt the senior manager in charge of the facility was winging it, and didn't really care. Saw the person lie more than tell the truth. Just because someone speaks well in a meeting, doesn't mean they are managing correctly. In the end, they don't know the true health of a facility because they are not engaged. Biggest problem is their ego thinks they do know.
