Pros

Coloplast is adding more and more ways for their employees to grow and develop. For new managers they invest heavily and send them to a week long leadership program at headquarters in Denmark. It's nice to see a company that recognizes it's internal talent. The benefits package is great with good health/dental/401k and above average PTO. Work/life balance is definitely achievable. There is also a lot of room to learn new skills at Coloplast. The company tends to run lean which in some instances can be frustrating, but it opens a lot of opportunities to learn tasks outside your specific role. The company appreciates employees who bring forward new ideas. The company truly stands behind their mission- to make life easier for people with intimate healthcare needs. It's great working for a company whose products are extremely innovative and really make a difference for those who use them.

Cons

As stated above, the Coloplast does run lean in many departments which can sometimes slow things down or you end up figuring things out on your own. As a subsidiary, it can sometimes feel like upper management at HQ doesn't fully understand the needs of the US market. The current systems aren't efficient for the business needs, but they are planning to do some system changes/upgrades in the next year.

Pros

*In recent years Coloplast has done a great job at looking for ways to hire from within and increase the training for transitions (EX. new manager training for those who have recently been promoted to a manager role). *My experience with management has been very open and if you need to say something, then say it. Transparency and feedback is always welcome as long as it's provided in a good way. They only time I've seen it taken poorly is when the feedback was given in a negative way (ex. aggressive or disrespectful) *Very fast pace environment that changes frequently, not good for someone who doesn't like change or isn't able to adapt quickly. *Coloplast seems to really care about the customers and well as the employees. I know if the Danish culture, it’s shown in different ways but I believe the Danes are working at ensuring they show appreciation in a way that works for the US employees. * Coloplast has a number of temporary employees and they treat them like there are full time employees instead of like lepers (I’ve been a temp at other companies and I was also treated like I wasn’t part of the company; this is not the case at Coloplast).

Cons

*Work/life balance is what you make it. Coloplast appreciates hard work and it seems to be part of the Danish culture to take time off when needed. The managers don’t disapprove of time off but it’s also not part of the culture to encourage taking time off. *When converting from temp to full time employee, there can be a long conversation time. But the hiring manager is usually open about what the hold up is about.

Pros

Coloplasts’ has a strong leadership development and focus on employee engagement as well as job satisfaction. I personally am an example of how the Coloplast culture has led to a successful progression in professional development. I started at Coloplast in an entry level position with in 2011 doing data entry. Within two years, with support and guidance from my managers, I was visiting our Poland subsidiary and teaching them our processes. I was elevated to a senior position and am currently a supervisor. I could not have made this amazing journey without the culture of support that Coloplast has.

Cons

As a large global company communication is important. Many meetings are done via Skype in conjunction with presentation materials (power point, spreadsheets, graphs/charts, etc.). Sometimes the information is not readily shared across business areas. I believe Coloplast has opportunity for improvement when it comes to information sharing and communicating across business areas.
