Pros

Pay is #1. Job security. Options to move around in management or you can stay within union and move around as seniority dictates. For anyone who's worked in a call center before, this position is great especially for the pay. Answering questions about bill, taking payments, transferring services etc.

Cons

Home-work life balance. If you have daycare aged children you'll probably have to make arrangements with family or hire a nanny due to possible odd hours. Mandatory overtime when the call center needs. Short notice at times, like 30 minutes before the end of your shift short notice. Of course dealing with customers is a con at times, but that comes with the job title.

Pros

Great and helpful attitude of staff, management and co-workers. No weekends as a temp, and medical benefits were offered. Although part time, you usually work 40 hours for months at a time. It is a long term temp assignment typically. Pretty straight forward training and expectations, although it is a nice amount of information to learn about the company and processes, you shouldn't feel in the dark about what is expected of you. Last to be called for storm duty (16 hour emergency shifts). Amazing starting pay and goes up annually. Appears to be great options for growth in the company.

Cons

Inbound call center opened 24 hours, so may get an undesirable shift and weekends if selected permanently. Mandatory overtime for permanent CSRs. Temps don't know when they will be turned over to permanent, if at all. This past season, no one was chosen due to budget reasons. Can be stressful taking 100 plus calls a day about utility outages, bill payments, and payment plans as customers aren't always friendly, but for those with the right back ground this is truly is the holy grail of CSR jobs.

Pros

Decent pay. Job autonomy.

Cons

Very little guidance or training. Employees are just dropped into their jobs and expected figure it out on their own. The work processes are unbelievably inefficient. It takes twice as long to get anything done than it should. They have a monopoly and all costs are pushed to the consumer so they have no incentive to remove inefficiencies.
