Pros

1) The People. This is by far the most interesting group of people I've worked with. Comfy doesn't screen just for skillset; they look for culture fit as well, and they don't try to fit candidates into a box--which has resulted in an immensely diverse, talented, and caring company. People here genuinely like spending time with each other, whether it's going for a drink after work or hiking on Mt Tamalpais. 2) The culture, like the brand, is also quirky and fun. If you take a look at the webpage, that's really what it's like--fresh, edgy, and just fun. From a CEO who loves to mix drinks for the team to a product team that hacks together strings of LEDs just for fun, this is an environment where people are given the freedom to be curious and learn from each other. Unlike most places where "company values" are something that gets written up by HR and posted in a manual somewhere, this is a company where people genuinely live their set of values each and every day. 3) The product. If you've ever wanted to be in the business of category creation and disrupting an age-old industry (along with all the ups-and-downs of that journey), this is it. Starting off with a simple idea--giving people the ability to control their own temperature--this product has so much potential, I can't wait to see where things end up over the next several years.

Cons

As with all successful start-ups, as the company grows, roles & responsibilities tend to shift around--but sometimes people are slow to let go of what they used to do and still expect to be as involved (as was the case when it was a small company). The management team has been stepping in more to make the necessary changes, which is great.

Pros

The Comfy team is a beautiful and intelligent group who care about people and the environment and how their work can facilitate the adoption of an epic new technology. We have a sweet newly renovated office in dead-center downtown Oakland. - The Fox Theatre and my gym are blocks away, along with lots of great food options. (Our office has the Comfy app as you might imagine working at peak performance) I get lunch with co-workers often. We have stand-up desks (movable). Communal lunch is ordered approximately 1 day a week. While people work really hard, I feel that we all hope that each other are reaching equitable balance between work, family, friends, and other things that make us happy. The team is super smart, collaborative, and open about problems within the org. We take it as a given as a growing company that holes will come up, "so how do we design solutions?" We're on the leading edge of a market that finally understands that what we've created is needed - with a product that is better and more user-focused than anyone else and a dev team that knows their s#!t. We have a rock climbing slack channel and an active music channel.

Cons

There have been so many changes in the past 4 months since I started which has lead to quite a bit of uncertainty for where the company is going. Saying this, I love rollercoasters and Andrew, our CEO, has been as transparent as possible with bi-weekly all-hands about funding, people leaving or starting, etc. You have to be willing to move with the punches and be optimistic like you would be in most start-ups these days. It has been a slow process getting the tools I need to run an efficient SDR process. I think this will change in the coming months.
