Pros

- Fun start-up culture - Smiling faces greeting you daily - Encouraging and creative teams - Continuously driving innovative and leading-edge ideas - Understanding of work/life balance; prioritizing health and family needs - Inspiring individuals who push you to think beyond the company and into the community - People driven by a mission and committed to solving workplace issues

Cons

- Grappling with growth is hard; teams are often not on the same page about what needs to be prioritized - Division between the management team and general staff; there's often a disconnect and lack of mutual understanding - Upward mobility; it's hard convincing the Company that you deserve a new role/higher salary despite your hard work and dedication

Pros

Comfy is a passionate little (growing!) startup working on challenges at the intersection of sustainability, productivity and the built environment. The product is an interesting twist of IoT and enterprise SaaS, with no shortage of technical challenges and opportunities to grow. Given the size of the team and supportive culture there's still plenty of room for new people to make a big difference, grow professionally and technically and find their areas of ownership. But most importantly -- the culture and people are fantastic. I've never worked with such a universally smart, talented, dedicated and fun group of people. Whether we're walking through Yosemite, hacking at the office, running up Mt. Tam for sunrise or singing off the back of the ferry (you'll have to visit us for the story of that one), we have a great time together and when the going gets tough, we know we can count on each other.

Cons

As a small company with big clients, there's always lots to do -- lots more than there is time for. Prioritization and focus are hard, and we can't always do every "fun" project when we want to -- but we're certainly not bored. We have a really collaborative environment and people are always happy to help -- but at our size and with our workload the most opportunities come to those who can stretch themselves and be proactive.

Pros

1) The People. This is by far the most interesting group of people I've worked with. Comfy doesn't screen just for skillset; they look for culture fit as well, and they don't try to fit candidates into a box--which has resulted in an immensely diverse, talented, and caring company. People here genuinely like spending time with each other, whether it's going for a drink after work or hiking on Mt Tamalpais. 2) The culture, like the brand, is also quirky and fun. If you take a look at the webpage, that's really what it's like--fresh, edgy, and just fun. From a CEO who loves to mix drinks for the team to a product team that hacks together strings of LEDs just for fun, this is an environment where people are given the freedom to be curious and learn from each other. Unlike most places where "company values" are something that gets written up by HR and posted in a manual somewhere, this is a company where people genuinely live their set of values each and every day. 3) The product. If you've ever wanted to be in the business of category creation and disrupting an age-old industry (along with all the ups-and-downs of that journey), this is it. Starting off with a simple idea--giving people the ability to control their own temperature--this product has so much potential, I can't wait to see where things end up over the next several years.

Cons

As with all successful start-ups, as the company grows, roles & responsibilities tend to shift around--but sometimes people are slow to let go of what they used to do and still expect to be as involved (as was the case when it was a small company). The management team has been stepping in more to make the necessary changes, which is great.
