A Good Bank Experience

Pros

Security is probably the real key to working at Commerce or, really, any bank. They don't pay a whole lot but they are fairly generous with promotions and titles. Not sure they've ever had a layoff. Very driven by admirable values and a pretty clear mission of customer service.

Cons

If you have even the tiniest bit of creativity in you they will find a way to kill it. It's bank and they're pretty darn conservative. No way you'll get rich working for them. Benefits are average at best.

Financial strength of the bank. Above average ROE, ROA, total capitalization, and low loan losses. Flat management structure allows for quicker decisions from a seasoned credit team.

Cons

Steady & slow approach to bank and loan portfolio acquisitions has lead to missed opportunities for growth.

Cons

Compensation plan is too complicated. The penalty aspect built into the plan is de-motivating. Not sure they can catch up to the competitors in the solutions marketplace
