Pros

Colleagues. Executive leadership team dedicated to improvement. Relaxed workplace for most teams. Growing transparency and dedication to diversity.

Cons

Overall strategy and leadership approach feels a bit more reactive than proactive. CEO needs to take a breath and come back down to earth. He has the vision and dedication, but he can come across as out of touch or a loose cannon. Location: It's becoming almost impossible to live off even a competitive non-profit salary in San Francisco.

Great mission, poor focus, terrible leadership

Pros

They have an important mission. Most of the content they produce is good (videos, education content, content for parents). Benefits were pretty good when I was there.

Cons

The CEO brings the whole organization down. C-level leadership and upper management in general are not good. Many roles have no room for growth and the organization doesn’t take professional development seriously. They underpay many employees and claim it’s because they are a nonprofit, but overpay the leadership.
