Look for the Positive in a World full of Negative
Pros
Excellent benefits package with options for medical, dental, vision & disability. Generous PTO, EAP and wellness program with $ perks. Modest pay, but make sure you count all of the added benefits in your calculations. Overall a group of really great people with varied interests and a heart for helping others in our community. Depending on your position you may have education benefits or flex time available. For all positions, especially helpful for our entry level positions our EAP provider offers an extensive free library of online learning on a wide variety of topics. We serve a vast population .... headstart & early child, child, adult, elder, disability services, chronic, substance use, residential, emergency services and soon CCBHC. If you want to work in mental health this is the place for you to grow. I look forward to training you! Note: My 5 star experience at CCN may not the norm as I am in a niche IT position in administration. I am also a glass 1/2 full optimist. Find the good. I have always been overworked and stretched thin, but I would also be that way no matter where I worked. I have enjoyed the opportunities that I have been given to grow my skills/career and the flexibility that my position allows.
Cons
Like all mental health non-profit agencies the work we do helping people, (many times the same people) never ends. There is always more to do, and not enough staff to do it. Compassionate and empathetic souls will need to set personal boundaries so they are not overwhelmed by this regardless of your position. Staffing nationwide is an issue and one that is felt here as well. Burnout is REAL. Do selfcare!
