Pros

Working here is a great option for both new nurses and experienced nurses. The pay scale at this hospital is very solid with limitless opportunities for bonus pay. The leadership I work under are professional and understanding. The hospital cares about its staff and their safety. Being a hospital that is roughly 118 inpatient beds it's not a sprawling and confusing campus compared to other hospitals. That also means that you see the same faces on a regular basis and can form some strong bonds with colleagues.

Cons

It is not a high level trauma center, so you won't normally be caring for crash, burn, GSW victims. If you are in the ED you will see some wild stuff, but generally high level trauma victims are transferred to Methodist. The former pro of seeing the same faces can also be a con because if drama starts it can spread pretty quickly considering everyone knows someone on every unit. It's not a huge con given that this is a frequent occurrence in workplaces in any industry, if you're not into gossip and drama then just detach from those conversations and you're pretty easily out of it.

Pros

Decent benefits Great coworkers One great manager & director, heck of a clinical educator, stroke coordinator and auditor Educational opportunities are decent Safety & Security is OUTSTANDING specifically night shift New grad pay is good

Cons

Pay could be better, the recent market analysis is nice but nowhere near what pay should be for experienced nurses. We're the ones training new nurses and yet we barely make more than them. Staffing is not great, it's better than some places but still has room for improvement. We have outgrown our current department vs. population wanting to be seen, there just isn't enough rooms or staff to see them all which leads to long wait times, disgruntled patients, and overworked staff. Not strict enough on zero tolerance policy on aggressive patients/visitors, no one comes to work to experience verbal or physical aggression from the people they're trying to care for or their loved ones.
