Pros

The team I worked with most directly was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Benefits were affordable. Pay was reasonable, especially with lower cost of living with respect to other California cities. High level of independence. Emphasized good work life balance. Overall the company tried to be supportive and management is willing to provide technological solutions when possible, including covering continuing education etc.

Cons

They offer a binding contract for relocation/retention but few employees ever stay for the full terms. The handful of employees that have stayed long-term are overworked, underpaid, disgruntled, and inflexible. The Central Valley is economically depressed. Although this makes California living in Fresno more affordable, it does not make it a great place to uproot a family to. Area is fairly conservative which can influence prenatal care and patient access. High level of independence can lead to isolated work environment and potential for poor work-life-balance. Given high turn-over rate, no significant career ladder has been established and employee hierarchy can feel inflexible. There is tight knit circle of long-term employees who gossip about those who are not in the circle and who can make seeking help/support difficult. Team wants diversity and inclusion for surface level reasons like ability to talk with patients/reducing need for translators. Actual buy-in and interest in diverse employees' interests and existence as whole people (beyond just being able to speak Spanish etc) seems variable from manager to manager and department to department.
