Pros

Pay and benefits are good. Company means well and does try to push good values. Pleasant environment and overall the company has a good reputation. There are opportunities to move up within the company with a couple caveats. Overall the Commvault software is very good, although can be challenging to support.

Cons

- Nepotism is in full bloom. If you know the right people within the company you will move up faster. - Colleagues can be very political. Plenty of backstabbing to go around to get ahead - Have recently had a round of layoffs because the primary owner Elliott Management was not happy with margins, this resulted in Bob Hammer being forced to step down. - Support has too many managers and supervisors for a small number of people. A group of 25-30 people can have 2 Supervisors and a Manager. - Head of Global Support is located in Australia, which results in micromanagement of support from afar. - Although they have an anonymous employee feedback called Vaulters Voice, many still fear reprisal if negative comments are made. Managers often can figure out in some cases who the person was by comments.

Pros

Great product (although complicated for customers).... um, that's about it. Lots more Cons than Pros when working at this company.

Cons

Questionable ethics at management level. Ridiculous amount of scrutiny and micro management throughout the sales process - so much so that it impedes the sales process. Earnings calls always tout double digit growth figures - and yet only 20% of salesforce regularly meet their quotas. Very long sales cycle for this solution of about 18 months to 2 years. One of the worst cultures of any company I have ever encountered in my career. Highest level of attrition I have ever seen. No camaraderie, no support from upper management, and all about the "numbers".

If you are a woman - stay away

Pros

Awesome company if you are working with good manager and good team.

Cons

No advancement, no raises for a woman. You constantly are struggling with higher paying men for your place under the sun and constantly are being put down by male management. Work - life balance is none! Everything depends on your managers mood. This company is more political than White house, biting each others heads off while covering behinds is an official company sport.

Commvault Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback, I have to say it caught me off guard and I would encourage you to reach out to me directly. This is not at all the culture that we see day to day at Commvault and if you experience is different then as the CHRO I want to understand why. We know that not all managers are created equal which is why we are investing in manager training, emotional intelligence workshops and a manager communications center, and by many accounts is paying off as “MY MANAGER” consistently ranks as one of #1 strength in our annual vaulters voice survey. It is also disturbing to hear that you are not feeling like you are being treated fairly. As you know one of our core values is to treat others as they’d like to be treated which is why we have such a commitment to diversity and inclusion as we believe that makes us different makes us strong.
