it seems the managers don't look in to why some one has been off. I am married with 2 children and took a few days compassionate leave as i found out my dad has terminal cancer (whilst at work half way through a shift on the phone!! AS my boss was on holiday i didn't leave until he got back so i didn't leave the team short staffed) and will probably die within the next 3-6 months so i took 3 days leave to travel 3 hours to go and see him.
On another occasion before this, i had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled out on a Saturday afternoon under general anaesthetic and wasn't allowed to drive on the Sunday but i returned on the Monday despite the pain i knew i had to get back. 2 week ago due to the stress of my fathers illness and him now living at the other end of the country i was sick, not sure if it was a bug or stress or something i ate but i was sick and i work in a kitchen so i didn't go in to work but my next working day which was 2 days later i was feeling better and hadn't been ill so i returned to work. so 2 days off for my teeth a couple off for my dad and 1 day sick in 4 months of a new job. i Understand this this is very unlucky but if it wasn't for my dad being so ill and a diagnosis out of the blew my teeth would have probably been the only 2 days off. i am under enough stress as it is trying to find time (working 5 days a week) to see my dad whilst trying to keep this new job, i love my job i don't want to loose it, i wake up and have no doubt about what i want to do, i want to go to work! but because of these absences i have been put on another 3 months probation which scares the life out of me as if my dad dies before the 3 months is up and i need to go be with him im worried ill loose my job! management need to look in to things before doing this kind of thing!
