Pros

Compass is building the operating system for real estate through technology, marketing, and community, and as an employee, you have the rare opportunity to experience that focus every day. Community is key here - for agents and employees - so that's a major focus during the interview process. Leadership views candidates as people being welcomed into a family, so fit is incredibly important. The leadership team is impressive, collaborative, and transparent - you don't feel left in the dark here. The CEO is passionate and inspiring. He continues to call new agents and new hires to personally welcome them to the team even as the business continues to grow. He's focused on building an incredible community that feels close and personal no matter how big it gets. He's also just a great human being.

Cons

The company is still young so some of the administrative systems need tweaking. If you don't like moving fast and wondering where the weeks have gone, you might not enjoy "the Compass way" as the fast-paced environment is affectionately called.

Pros

Smart Smart Smart! That's what I would say about the people who work at Compass! They really focus on hiring the best staff and have incredibly high standards! Kind decent people who care about doing the right thing and about helping agents grow their business. It is exciting to work at a start up but this really isn't a start up since real estate has been around for generations. It is a future oriented environment which is inspiring.

Cons

The technological environment here is so progressive that if you aren't paying attention you will fall behind.

Pros

Compass really cares about the culture for both the staff and the agents (clients). Always listening to feedback and implementing initiatives to ensure staff satisfaction. Ex: we get catered lunches 2x a month, breakfast and snacks all day every day and random events all the time. The access to the executive team is really remarkable, to be able to provide feedback and ask questions to the leaders of the company instead of just HR or your immediate manager. The start-up mentality provides a lot of opportunity for ideation and ownership over projects you want to start. If you have an idea, generally you are encouraged to carry it out, which is really amazing. My favorite part, is the amount I have learned about building a business, start-up barriers and breakthroughs, the growing pains of a quickly scaling company, AND we get to learn SO much about what other departments do, including: product, user experience, people & culture, PR, finance, sales, recruiting, communication.. all of it. It feels almost like a summer camp where you learn so much in a short period of time and everything changes every day. Never a boring day at Compass, that is for sure.

Cons

Like in most start-ups, not every responsibility has a designated role so "wearing a lot of hats" is common. It can be difficult to find a flow of your workday since so many things come up all the time that need figuring out. Also, since the company is growing so fast and the interview process is so thorough, sometimes the amount of clients exceeds the staff able to support them. However, the company has gotten better and better at this.
