A Cult

Pros

Good people and casual environment

Cons

This company is ran like a cult and Rogers is the ring leader. He’s bipolar and needs help. He will persuade you to join his company to make his ego feel better. His success was built off luck and connections. He has no clue how to operate a business and it’s unethical and unfair. All of the reviews on here are fake or he asked the staff to write them and they do it because they’re afraid of losing their job like many others. He brainwashes his team to believe in him and he gives all these motivational speeches like he’s running a church. He has zero real estate, relocation or property management expertise. He’s never even worked for a real business. Just look at his staff’s job titles… there’s no level of hierarchy and he tries to be original, but that just confuses people on what their role really is. He gives out manager or director titles easily because everyone reports to Rogers, so you really have no authority to make decisions or lead your department because no one reports to you. He was born into the Highland Park lifestyle and went to SMU and then became a real estate agent (SMU education… you’d think you’d do more than become a realtor) so he has no clue how a business operates. There’s no HR or handbook to set the standards, it’s how Rogers feels that day so you will walk on eggshells during your entire employment. He doesn’t give a damn about his staff, agents or clients. He will screw you over and give you a run for your money. Do not believe any of the positive reviews on here and do yourself a favor and stay far away from this man and his “company”.

Pros

Compass definitely has the tech startup feel. Employees are super talented and smart, great benefits, flexible culture. Everyone is willing to help out. You can really make your mark on the company since it is on the smaller side and each office location has its own way of running things.

Cons

At the end of the day, bells and whistles aside, it is still another real estate brokerage. At times, it feels that the needs of the real estate agents (who are independent contractors in relation to the company), are prioritized over the needs of the employees. Employees work tirelessly to make agents successful, but it still does feel that the agents are valued more. Compass has its eye on going public, but this might be damaging the culture over time as the "numbers" grow increasingly more important. Compass just laid off almost 400 employees only one week into the quarantine without batting an eye.
