Pros

The corporate training at Brentwood, TN was fantastic and really got me motivated to work hard at my program. The corporate training gives you the very basics that you need to understand your position at a rudimentary level. The people at the Director of Clinical Services level work extremely hard for their patients and team members.

Cons

The initial and ongoing training for competency at your position is almost non-existent, no structured preceptorship. It is impossible to use paid time off at the Director level because you are questioned, intimidated, and asked if you are a team player when you request well deserved time off. The bonuses that they promise are a complete lie because they do not give you the resources in your job to succeed so you will never meet the ridiculously high metrics that they expect from you. The clinical staff is allowed to completely run amok with no consequences for poor behavior or performance, but the Directors are held to the absolute highest standard and expected to have zero defects. They preach the vision for Directors that you have “high challenge/high support”, but in reality you have impossible challenges/expectations and NO support. As soon as a patient or staff make a complaint, instead of investigating the root cause it is immediately pinned on you as a leadership failure despite any evidence that you provide to upper management to prove otherwise. There is absolutely no mentorship or counseling done WHATSOEVER from above the Director level, but you are constantly being called to the carpet if every team member is not counseled on time on a monthly basis. The upper management is totally disconnected from what is actually happening from the Director level down to the patient care level and will not take suggestions for improvement from the Directors that actually know their team AND actually still provide RN Case Management while managing a team. The turnover in this company is beyond comprehension. They report that it is approximately 70%, but it is closer to 200% as almost all of the nursing staff that was present when I started turned over twice within the six months that I worked there. You can be fired without ever receiving initial written counseling of expectations and goals when onboarding, no monthly or even quarterly written counseling, no written negative counseling/feedback, and no Performance Improvement Plan to help you meet expectations. Even more incredible, fired without being evaluated and signed off on a competency assessment that you are competent to do your job by a preceptor and the Executive Director. The amount of gossip and unprofessional behavior by clinical staff at the program level is completely toxic, but upper management does not allow Directors to hold clinical staff accountable for their actions. This is the most disorganized, disingenuous, toxic, and unprofessional company that I have ever worked for as a professional or doing non-skilled labor.

Pros

My local colleagues are wonderful. My ED and DCS were truly amazing leaders and corporate fired them on the same day. Now we have corporate leadership who are disengaged liars. But they "carried the bag."

Cons

The corporation only cares about money and it shows in every chaotic decision. This isn't hospice care- this is a game to them. Yet at the same time they are micro managing hours of staff like they are interchangeable widgets, they are flying their corporate leadership around for no clear purpose. Very top heavy organization. The labor tool is not conducive to providing quality care. EMR ( which is only at our site- most of the programs still use paper) does not allow professional RN case managers to do their job. Everything at this company is about micro management.
