Pros

stable company, good benefits, great coworkers, excellent care services with genuine respect for clients, important work, important in supporting and changing the way we view and care for our loved ones in their last days, fits with the way most doctors choose to die

Cons

atmosphere appears supportive, but in reality was not; upper management does not focus on the workers' needs; productivity requirements were not realistic for rural areas, but there was senior management refusal to accept the mileage realities; fellow employee was criticized for years for poor productivity, losing pay raises, then suddenly after 5 years her phone management system for dealing with serious long distance issues (over 100 miles 1 way) was ok'd dating back years - and no raises for her creativity and attention to detail; nonsensical hiring and attention to area served, e.g, I lived in and was hired in area S to work in area S, then forced to work in area P 50 miles away, then management refused to allow me to transfer to work in my area of original hire, management refused to transfer a FT employee who lived in area S and worked in area F 45 miles away to an identical position in area S, then hired a FT employee living in area F to work in area S

Pros

Good Compensation, good nurses, aides, therapists, and physicians. Really that is about all I can say good about Hospice Compassus, which is sad.

Cons

Gave sales reps 8 months in new territories, then cut a lot of them loose. I was actively recruited from another stable career, only to let go 8 months later after being told it takes 12-18 months to fully develop a territory. A lot of turnover in the sales management team, clinical team (expected in Hospice), etc. NEVER received a company laptop, despite asking for one when partners had one (they were let go too). Too many meetings that took you out of the field.

Pros

The work is very meaningful and rewarding when executed well. I met some very compassionate individuals through this experience.

Cons

- Compassus feels very corporate with policies, procedures and overall execution of those. Myself and many colleagues didn’t trust leadership as they seemed like “corporate robots” we had to prove ourselves to on paper. As I said in my headline, it’s a top-heavy organization. - High-drama and gossip environment - Money and metrics fell at the forefront, seemingly above patient care. I did this work until it felt wrong to even promote Compassus any further. I lost the passion and drive and didn’t trust the care I was “promising” families and facilities we could provide. - Compassus seems to operate based on what’s convenient for them and their bottom line. They will let people go at the drop of a hat if it’s in their own best interest. - Numerous times I felt my colleagues were treated as numbers and unfairly. If I spoke up, I feel I’d be the next person let go. - Short-staffed clinically, constant turnover, lack of true appreciation from organizational leadership. Their actions rarely spoke as loud as their words. - I was sick often in my time with the company. Now that I left, I feel it was due to constant stress and chaos. A weight lifted when I moved on to a new healthcare organization.
