Pros

only pro is you get a paycheck

Cons

they don't communicate with you. you get no raises as a contractor. once your contract is done, they do not help you find another job. they stopped 401k matching in 2017.

At CTG, we believe people are our business, so we are disappointed to hear you feel differently. Since many of our employees work onsite at a client location, we understand communication can be challenging. As such, we utilize a variety of communication vehicles to keep employees up to date with CTG news, such as: • town hall conference calls led by our CEO, Filip Gydé, • an internally produced, semi-annual newsletter mailed to each employees home, • social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn (be sure to connect with us!), and of course • direct communication between CTG managers and employees Our communication efforts support our mission to provide real business value for our clients while also creating professional opportunities for our employees and value for our shareholders. Our intention is for all employees to understand they are valued members of our CTG team; we could not fulfill our clients’ needs without the unique skillsets our employees offer. When employees fulfill their assignments, our managers and recruiters work diligently to identify other open opportunities that align with the employees’ skillsets. Redeployment is an important initiative for us and we encourage employees to reach out to their manager or recruiter to discuss interests and future opportunities.

Pros

Mostly casual environment Clients present interesting work opportunities Great hardware support and local IT (workstations, servers, etc) Much of the work is easy once you understand the proprietary system Many employees have stayed employed here for 15+ years Small team feel but part of a large corporation Opportunity to travel and see your software running in the field is fulfilling

Cons

Extremely conservative and old fashioned (waterfall, preference for paper over computers) Senior members actively resist new technology and software practices Project management has been a weakness for years and is not improving Staffing company mentality, history of no severance and no warning dismissals Corporate IT presents many challenges and painful restrictions, lacks focus on productivity and customer success Career advancement is almost non-existent as the goal is to keep people in the same positions forever and avoid re-training costs Management does not participate in career advancement coaching or mentoring Promises from management are often never realized All testing is manual and management is opposed to automated testing Testing and development work is often extremely repetitive Culture of 'work harder, not smarter' Technical achievements often not recognized, working late doing repetitive tasks rewarded and celebrated Office environment could be a lot cleaner Often asked to work nights and weekends with no compensation (occasional pizza at best)
