Pros

Easy place to get comfortable. I found the people at Xicom to be nice to work with. It's a relitively easy going, low pressure social environment. There are monthly BBQ's and an okay 401K plan.

Cons

Low pay and no chance of promotion unless you're friends with management. Furloughs every year. I made 40% more almost instantly after being laid off, and was promoted at my new job within 3 months. I do not feel that Xicom has the technical knowledge that it's competitors do. Management does not understand the product to the depths that they should. This company largely survives by making due with things. The product is of low quality with an increadibly high return rate. Health coverage is bad. Bonuses never exceed triple digits.

Pros

Not many at all after 13 years other than employment in Silicon Valley when jobs are scarce.

Cons

Very low pay. Was able to get a contract position within 4 weeks paying 25% MORE than what I was making when I was let go (after 13 years) No respect for employees with any tenure, experience or product knowledge After 13 years of employment, a "group" of us were walked out in March, 2016. The direct managers didn't know. I received 2 weeks of severance for 13 years of service. Benefits are very bad and expensive. They are based on what's available at the corporate offices on the east coast, not what's here in California (words direct from HR). There is minimal communication. The quarterly BBQ's are always 'business is good and steady'. Upper management has no regard for how the product is developed and built. They then take incorrect information from those close to them which is inaccurate. Very frustrating trying to communicate upwards so accurate detail, problems, proposed solutions are heard.... the just do it because I said so...... attitude is prevalent.

Pros

Provides a paycheck, in house vacation of sorts doing mindless work so very good for those with no ambition. Pays well for producing very little.

Cons

No career growth, only one project left with one customer. Not big enough to stand alone as a business unit. No technological leadership at all. No future business is forthcoming. Corporate office has no plans to invest in this so-called "company". Current leadership does not know how to grow this business. Too many people here are comfortable just to collect a paycheck. No accountability. Some people work short hours and collect big paychecks. Some are just coasting to retirement. Overall morale is terrible.
