Pros

I worked as a term contractor for Con Edison. I served for 9 months. I believe that Con Edison has a great corporate culture. Everyone I worked with on my term was very friendly and helpful. Lots of people I talked to loved the company. I would definitely recommend con edison to peers.

Cons

The only complaint i have is the commute from New Jersey to Manhattan. I don't think this is a problem for people who use the public transportation.

Pros

Some of the best reasons to work at Con Ed is because there is job stability and growth opportunity . Also it is a very well known company in New York City. They provide energy to othe greatest city in the world which makes it worth while to work for them. There are several job locations within the city where a employee can choose to work in a convenient place for them. As far as growth opportunity there are always jobs being posted for current employees to fill. The environment of employees makes it a place of work yet fun.

Cons

Some of the downsides of working at Con Ed is that It is a very large company has too many things going on. There is lots of work to be done. Also there is too many old knowledgable guys that are retiring without passing the knowledge to enough younger employees. So alot of the information needed to work is hard to attain. The company has a lot of policies that needs to be followed because it is a big company. They also require yearly tests for safety knowledge and such. You have to work from 7AM which is very early.

Pros

job security, paid training and every one is there to help you when you need it. management is ok they dont really harp on you. being union is amazing you never have to worry what happens at work. all you have to do is worry about being at work on time.

Cons

very demanding mentally and when you have to be there you have to be there no question asked. management is mostly new off the street very few supervisors actually work there way through the ranks. its quite annoying when they are telling you what to do and they dont know what they are even saying.
