Pros

It looks good on paper.

Cons

- layoffs happen left and right with no warning and no communication about it (you'll find out more about what's happening at the company from reading the news than you will from the leadership team) - no feelings of value for remote offices, benefits/perks are focused on NYC employees only

Pros

TheY create Beautifully curated brands

Cons

Oh let me count the ways. I worked on several brands at Condé Nast and excelled in sales. My last position, I worked for a publisher at a high end fashion magazine (not Vogue) who once asked me how to spell KOHLER when I broke the account and asked her to at least send an email to the client (she never travelled to my territory). At one of our signature events her after party consisted of going to an IN and OUT burger and tossing her cookies in the parking lot. Classy. This was my publisher. Fast forward, when The magazine did not make their September numbers, there had to be cost cutting - so solution was to close the outside office and despite my being 150% of goal, my position was eliminated. I was owed a very sizable Commission check but instead of doing the right thing of paying it out, I am sure she added that to her bottoms line. Since then she has been shifted to another area of the company. And a side note. When I was in TX calling on a big retailer with my publisher and EIC, after the meeting they took off in their car service and left me standing in the Dallas corporate offices.

Pros

Get paid on time, odd perks to compensate for what they won't pay you in salary

Cons

Working in a building that's on a site that's been attacked numerous times over decades. The employees I worked with we calculating and created heart break for their underlings. They destroyed my career after I spent night after night working overtime which I was compensated for only once in a blue moon. They ended up forcing me out of the company and I had to go live with sick relatives in another part of the country. Which is why I give the "advice to management" not to treat their employees like children. Some of us need our jobs unlike the overpaid executives and real life loyalty that work there.
