      Awesome Benefits and Casual work environment, but not much else

      Pros

      Awesome benefits! Free catered lunch everyday, well stocked kitchen with soda, Coffee, cereal bar, etc. Great health benefits, generous vacation and sick time. Very casual work environment, laid back managers, and friendly people.

      Cons

      It is a good place to get your foot in the door as an entry level job. However, outside of the engineers there is little room for growth or advancement. They have a low salary and try to make it up for it in benefits (FREE food everyday). The promotions go to the same people already in upper management. (I.E. Senior Manager to Director, Director to Senior Director, Senior Director to VP)

      Pros

      - Nice office space - Free lunches - Good perks (bonuses, gym on site, restaurants in the building, etc.) - Friendly, young atmosphere

      Cons

      - Absolutely no feedback or reviews. I spent many years there, and my peers & I never once got a performance review. - They grow too quickly & then correct course with layoffs. In 10 years they've gone through three significant rounds of layoffs. - Great talent on engineering/development teams keeps leaving for other companies. - Not family-friendly. - No attention to work-life balance. - Inappropriate, alcohol-fueled parties (they had burlesque dancers at one recently!) - It's a "club" at the top of this company, and if you're not buddies with someone on the senior team, you're not going to get promoted. - Incredible politics. The ideas that happen are the ones that come from the people with the power, NOT the best ideas.

      Pros

      Shopzilla is a great organization with a lot of opportunities. It is financially sound and there is a lot of depth to the management team. There are many talented engineers, and there is a lot to learn by working here.

      Cons

      Rarely, but occasionally, you will get pressured into putting in a lot of hours. Fortunately, it is pretty rare, but it definitely happens.
