Pros

it has a few perks, like working concerts, football games, hockey games too. it also has great flexibility compared to any other work place

Cons

there are many many cons to working here, it is a very unorganized company that doesnt reward employees for hard work.. i work in nashville and we have been told on numerous accounts how well we are doing. how hard we work and basicly how much money we make the boss. we have won awards for best venue of the year and have been told we compete with madison square garden where im sure they are getting payed for their performance. we are the lowest payed branch in the region yet they tell us how much better we are then the others and praise us for the hardwork. to let you kno how how much they appreciate us, we got a .25 raise about a month ago because the cost of living went up. not because our performance.. you also have no kind of benefits what so ever and we have to walk over a mile just to get to work or u can pay 3 dollars to ride a shuttle.. hard work for barely above minimum wage is expected, slackers welcome

Pros

Seeing concerts, freedom to schedule as an independent contractor, informal atmosphere, unstructured environment, some supervisors are very competent at their jobs and back you up and explain things well.

Cons

Unstructured environment, unprofessional, the website says it's event staff are trained beyond state requirements, yet I received no training whatsoever after my 8 hour classroom bullcrap instruction, I've seen more in depth training in ROTC than CSC's security training, although it seems like other large events security companies do the same thing, they hire a bunch of people, normal training is being told to stand somewhere, advanced training for event staff is "call the police when u see someone dying," if you even have a radio or cell phone, last time i remember cell phone was not a requirement but I could be wrong. confusing and inconsistent instructions from supervisors (for example, telling you it's okay for people to stand on railings, then a minute later you get yelled at for allowing a person to stand on railings, then when asked what to do when someone do cross the railings, they answer "nothing") We were told to not touch guests, yet the handbook says we can as long as it is necessary, and I see supervisors and "old timers" tackle and wrestle with uncooperating guests. There is absolutely no formal or informal if there is one training in "applying reasonable force." Don't get me wrong, some supervisors are great, they seem to be former cops or something, but certainly more professional, listen to feedback, and they get your back when you do your job. There's a difference between being laid back and being indifferent, the attitude of the majority of the supervisors is indifferent and chatty, the attitude of most event staff is basically nice but slightly arrogant because knowing you received no training whatsoever other than the bullcrap 8 hours course makes you want to "puff yourself up" in order to look more competent. I'm an experienced bag checker, car searcher, but other than that alot of my job posts involve standing there. I try to do the best job as I can by taking notes and actually looking for things, but most people just don't even give a crap. They go to their jobs, stand there, come back. I don't get the sense that I protected anybody coming back from a concert event.
