Pros
100% remote, no micromanaging, good salary, the company itself is a good idea and benefits the environment.
Cons
Where to begin? There is no support in the development team. They give the illusion they know what they are doing without fully utilizing agile methodologies. They expect you to know everything about a new programming language in a couple of months while offering to help but never actually checking in with you or helping. They have no proper probation steps, and will fill out a 13 week plan and then say they never decided to follow it at the end and can terminate your contract at any point. The manager doesn’t believe in release branches and pushes everything to the master, which is a terrible practice. Tests aren’t made sure to pass before the ticket is merged in. They have no meeting retro where the members of the team can put their thoughts out there and improve work processes. If you offer new ideas to them they will most likely leave you on read. This team has a severe issue with communication. You can message them, but most likely they won’t reply and then blame you saying you never reached out to them. No one talks to anyone. There are no social channels on Microsoft Teams or Slack, leading to a very closed off and silent development team. Also, they are the only company that lists having an ice cream truck come to the office during the summer a couple of times as a benefit.
